Chicago composer Olivia Block combines field recordings of dramatic natural spaces, electronic sounds and acoustic instruments to create multi-layered compositions that chart the intersection of the natural world and human music making. Tonight she’ll prepare an installation in the space consisting of a field of amorphous organic sound textures which she will accompany live with acoustic instruments, amplified objects and other pre-recorded material.
Spanish composer Francisco López makes live mixes of pre-recorded and processed environmental sounds in total darkness to create a complex territory where perceptual awareness and the power of naked music are strikingly re-discovered — a world where things are uneasy, unclear, unsolved and where one is forced to immerse and search. A very intense listening experience.
